Synopsis:

Lolo lives and works on their late grandfather’s chinampa (floating garden) in Xochimilco. Even though the land is calm, Lolo doesn’t feel free to be their true self. One afternoon, Lolo bumps into Kat, an old friend, at the market. With their friends, Lolo finds a safe space, where they feel a sense of kinship and the freedom to become who they really are.

Curatorial note:

Ana Gutiérrez Salgado finds an audiovisual language to explore the interrelation between an individual and their context—the dialogue between the character’s inner and outer worlds. Space, through framing, becomes an extension of Lolo’s body and a means of expressing their questions and uncertainties about identity. At the same time, friendship emerges as another possible space—one built collectively and forged through the affective bonds of queer youth.
