Focus on Trans Identities

Presentación

Trans identities challenge the boundaries of binarism and question the rigid structures of the world we live in. In this society that still marginalizes them, their existence is both a political and vital affirmation. The visibility of these identities is not just a gesture of justice, it’s an act of empathy, recognition, and reparation.

In the feature film and the four short films that make up this focus, we move from the individual to the collective, from the private to the public, from the personal to the political, always keeping in mind that this is a space for social transformation.

Cinema has the power to present new perspectives, underpin struggles, and break down societal barriers. That is why, in this focus, we suggest narratives that represent trans identities with honesty, sensitivity, and depth—refraining from stereotypes and simplifications. Stories like these are not exceptions or isolated fictions, they are part of the real world, the present, everyday life. And they deserve to occupy a central place on our screens.
