At ClimateCulture, we work at the intersection of storytelling, art, and cultural programming to ignite action on the climate crisis. We are honoured to guest curate this environmental strand as part of the Cultura Circular scheme by the British Council, a programme fostering exchange on sustainability and climate communication between Latin America and the UK.
For this year’s FICDH festival, we present a selection of boldly immersive films from India, Bangladesh, and Brazil—three countries that sit at the frontlines of the climate emergency. All That Breathes, Mighty Afrin, and The Buriti Flower are strikingly beautiful works that reflect a growing shift in climate cinema—one that favours breathtaking visuals, emotional depth, and experiential storytelling over conventional didactic approaches.
In dialogue with this year’s festival theme of borders, these films explore boundaries both visible and invisible—between communities, species, and worldviews. Though deeply rooted in their respective local realities, these three films are bound together by a shared cinematic language of intimacy, visual poetry, and a meditative rhythm that draws in the senses. They challenge us to consider how ecological interdependence intersects with questions of migration, identity, land rights, and political conflict.
