Synopsis:

For years, Basel Adra, a Palestinian activist, has documented the destruction of his community, Masafer Yatta, under Israeli occupation. As homes vanish and hope dwindles, he forges an unexpected alliance with an Israeli journalist, navigating deep inequalities to shed light on the ongoing crisis. Together, they face the weight of history and the search for justice in a land where survival itself is an act of defiance.

Curatorial note:

Made by four young Palestinian-Israeli activist friends, this much needed Oscar 2025 winning documentary is not about Gaza or the current situation in Palestine. It focuses on the destruction of the small rural community of Masafer Yatta, in the West Bank, by the Israeli army, between 2019 and 2023. Yet, what the film denounces is closely tied to today’s events: the Israeli will uproot and annihilate a nation whose only crime is to inhabit a place that, as the title of the film reads, is the only one possible.
