Synopsis:

Little Syria portrays the journey of a brother, a sister, and her boyfriend, stuck in a limbo between Syria, the country they escaped from to stay alive, and Europe, the continent that seems to welcome them at times and reject them at others. By the time this film was made, over 14 million Syrians had been forced to flee their homes. Reem, Mohammed, and Yasser try to make sense out of what the Syrian revolution left behind.

Curatorial note:

Madalina Rosca and Reem Karssli bring us an intimate portrait with powerful interventions on the critical political situation in Syria, the extreme violence of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, and exile. A work of great testimonial value, it finds a notable complement in its cinematographic treatment, which includes a diary-like log and meaningful archive of over 20 years. Honest and raw material that offers a hopeful perspective to those who are going through the long process of rebuilding a home far from their devastated homelands. Ornella Martina Zanoni
