Synopsis:

From different regions of Argentina, a group of activists protest through the mountains of Patagonia in defense of Lago Escondido, which was appropriated by the British billionaire Joe Lewis. Along the way, they face the challenges of nature and the violence of parastatal forces financed by the British billionaire. At a clear disadvantage, their struggle symbolizes the resistance and deep sovereign spirit of those who demand justice.

Curatorial note:

Can borders be bought? Lago Escondido, Sovereignty en juego replies that everything seems to have a price… as long as you know the right people in positions of power. In this documentary, impunity and corruption are exposed across the board —from citizen’s rights and access to land, to political networks and a complicit judicial system. A piece that accurately portrays the courage of those who put their bodies on the line to push for sovereign change. Mariano Pozzi
