Synopsis:

Thanks to the help of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo’s gene bank, Daniel, stolen at birth during the Argentine dictatorship, finally finds his biological family at 46. His mother, Cristina Navajas, has been missing since her last sighting at the secret detention center, where she gave birth to Daniel. During his search for the truth, the 133rd Grandchild uncovers a wide network of illegal adoptions and crimes committed during the 1976-1983 military dictatorship.

Trailer

Curatorial note:

In Argentina, we experienced one of the bloodiest and darkest dictatorships in the region and in the world. We also had (and still have) one of the most significant and moving reparation processes imaginable. A key part of it—where much remains to be done—is recovering the identity of our stolen grandchildren. And I say ‘our’ because these grandchildren no longer belong to just one person or family: they are the grandchildren of our history, our country, and our society. This film, with all its courage, reminds us that with every recovered grandchildren, we are recovering a part of our collective identity. Mariano Pozzi
